“You will continue to suffer if you have an emotional reaction to everything that is said to you. True power is sitting back and observing things with logic. True power is restraint. If words control you that means everyone else can control you. Breathe and allow things to pass.” – Warren Buffett

We now live in the days when everyone appears to be ‘triggered’ by everything. Being offended is almost a requirement and there seem to be those whose goal in life is to embody a permanent state of outrage. It need hardly be said that this ‘victimhood’ can become an obstacle to growth, which requires an act of will to stop focusing on all the bad things others might be doing and get back to what you should be doing. Power comes when what other people are doing becomes to an extent irrelevant. Simply not caring, rather than being offended, is a superb strategy because it frees you to move forward with your own path instead of being pulled off center by the foolish words of others. Buffett, one of the most successful entrepreneurs of all time, knows a thing or two about personal power and how to navigate through it all without being affected.
